Multnomah Falls Plant of the Day #9 Tigar Lily
Tigar Lily – Lilium columbianum
The Tigar Lily is a surprising native, keeping a low profile until it blooms. Throughout the Summer orange lantern like blooms float from its tall stems.
Where: Hiding in the middle of the central planter waiting patiently for summer when it gets to steal the show!

Multnomah Falls Plant of the Day #10 Fringe Cup
Fringe Cup – Tellima grandiflora
The native Fringe Cup is a more subtle garden perennial which after the likes of a red columbine we need in the garden. I enjoy the leaf texture and pale green white flowers in contrast with bold blossoms or even better in a soft harmony with the pastels of a bleeding heart.
Where: Tucked in by the bleeding heart in the far planter near the restaurant entrance.

Multnomah Falls Plant of the Day #12 Creeping Snowberry
Creeping Snowberry – Symphoricarpos mollis
Creeping Snowberry isone of my absolute favorite Oregon natives for its winter white berries. Its spring and summer shows are rather lovely as well, small delicate pink white blossoms, and the daintiest green leaves. Its a great plant next to evergreens for the winter interested they can create together. The green background makes the white berries pop!
Where: In the three main beds just behind the (evergreen) western sword fern.

Multnomah Falls Plant of the Day #14 Oregon Iris
Oregon Iris – Iris tenax
A much smaller version of the traditional garden iris, Oregon Iris offers a delicate bloom of color in the spring. Plant in large grouping, or let one or two surprise you in a woodland planting of ferns and ground covers.
Where: You’ll find Iris tenax on the Hwy side of all three planters that sit in front of the lodge.
